If you think finding the right bra size is tough, try categorizing your curly hair type! Are you a 2A or a 3C? We know the curly girls have our back on this one!
Understanding your unique curl pattern is essential to choosing the right hair products and developing your hair care routine. Have you ever followed a bloggers advice about curly hair styling and gotten totally different results? That’s because no two curly girls are the same! To achieve the best results, you need to know your curl type.
Basically, your curl type is your curly girl calling card, and we’re here to deal you in!
What’s the Curl Spectrum?
The curl spectrum is a scale to identify and categorize your curl type. Although it’s fairly easy to understand, it’s definitely a struggle to categorize your own hair. Here’s the basics: the curl spectrum begins at 1A and ends at 4C. The number correlates to how curly your hair is: 1 = Straight, 2 = Wavy, 3 = Curly, 4 = Kinky. Then, the letter corresponds with the tightness of your hair texture.
That seems pretty simple, right? Not too fast! So many curly girls have several different curl patterns which makes categorizing your hair…well, challenging. The top layers of your hair might be a 2B and your bottom layers a 3B. Don’t let different curl patterns frustrate you—your natural differences are what make you beautiful!
