Styling your hair with a blow dryer, curling iron, or flat iron, takes some special considerations so you don’t risk causing damage to your hair.
Cashmere Hair
First, I want you to think of your hair as if it were a cashmere sweater that you paid over $1,000 for. You might be thinking—I’d never spend that much on a sweater. Maybe that’s true but you spend how much to have beautiful hair each year? Our hair is like a fabric and after it grows out of our head it’s technically considered dead. Not a fun thing to think about but the point is, you have to treat your hair like gold because if you don’t the only option is cutting the dead-ends off. And for some people that might mean six-to-twelve inches!
Ensure the health of your hair by following these simple styling rules.
Rule #1
Professional heat tools can exceed 400 degrees. Imagine your thousand-dollar cashmere sweater on an ironing board. Would you apply that kind of heat to it? No way! The same goes for your hair. If you have fine hair, you wouldn’t want to exceed 250-300 degrees. If you have course hair, being between 350-400 will be okay but make sure you are using the proper heat protectants!
Rule #2
Apply heat protectant product to your hair like you’d apply sunscreen to your skin. Think of every heat day as a beach day! Some of us think—oh, I applied sunscreen yesterday, I don’t need it today. But you DO need heat protectant every time you apply heat.
At Be Inspired Salon we have a variety of heat protection products such as AIIR’s Shine Spray or Amika’s blockade, heat defense serum. Wondering which heat protectant is best for your hair texture? Set up a styling session with one of our hairstylists and they can go through all the products and uses that will be best for you!
Rule #3
Quality matters. If you haven’t invested in professional tools, now is the time! We specifically carry BioIonic and Amika heat tools because, well, we want to use the best and we want to offer you the best to use at home!
BioIonic is the first professional tool line that introduced ions to beauty. Now, their tools offer a moisturizing heat that restores instead of damages, hydrates instead of scorches.
Amika has innovative technology that uses far-infrared waves to lock in moisture, a negative ion technology that seals your cuticle for a smooth, frizz-free finish.
Both brands have all benefits and no downfalls! Come into Be Inspired Salon for a styling session to see what kind of difference they can make for your hair. 608-271-2771
