Do you wish you had the desire to put effort into your hair style but at the end of the day your desire to accomplish other tasks trumps this? Maybe you’re a busy mom or maybe a mover and a shaker so you desire an effortless style to compliment your lifestyle. Here’s what you need to know.
1. Very few styles are “effortless”
When looking at hair style pictures for inspiration, remember to ask yourself. Does my hair’s texture seem the same as this picture? Does the woman in this picture have hair that seems styled without the uses of tools and/or products? Usually the answer is no. Why? Because we typically desire that which we don’t have. If we had it…it wouldn’t cross our minds to desire it.
2. Examples of LITTLE effort hairstyles
SHORT Hairstyles
Here, our guest is rocking a layered CROP hairstyle. She has a coarse texture of hair.
To style: Blowdry using your favorite hydration serum or oil. We love Bassu Hydrating Oil. Once dried, add a texturizing pomade that works best for your hair texture. Since she has thicker hair, we used Texture Putty by Surface Hair.
What a makeover! Our guest made a major hairstyle change. She’s going to be so simple to style. Simply blowdry using a hydrating oil or serum.
We’d also recommend the Bassu Hydrating GOLD for her because she has brunette hair and will benefit from a heavier oil for hydration. Once dry, add a few drops of that oil into hands and apply throughout to give a natural shine and soft finish.
BOB Hairstyles
This example of a bob is the easiest. Our guest has a fine to medium texture to her hair.
To style, blowdry with a blowdry thickening gel or volume mousse of your choice. We love surface hair’s Reflect Styling Gel. Once dry, finish with a couple pumps of Surface Hair’s Shine Spray. If you have fine hair, hold the shine spray arm length’s away and mist above head allowing the product to fall over you lightly.
Another fabulous makeover for a busy mom who wanted more shape to her style. She has a lot of hair and it’s fine, so her struggle is preventing this style from falling flat. Be forewarned that this bob style will take a tad more effort. This will not be a wash and wear.
To style, blowdry your hair with Surface Hair’s Jump Mousse. This mousse has a directional tip to allow direct blasts into the roots for uber lift! Blowdry all over until hair is 80% dry. Once you feel mostly dry, use a round brush (we love BioIonic’s tools!) to add volume at the crown of the head. Do this by moving the hair away or over directing it away from where it will fall down. Once you’re all dry, add a few sprinkles of Surface Hair’s Push Powder which will help soak up oils throughout the day and help as a faux backcomb tool to ensure longevity to your style.

MID-LENGTH Hairstyles
We love our guest’s mid-length style here because it works with her natural wavy texture. She has fine to medium hair. This is the EASIEST style amongst the options as it could be a wash and wear…practically.
To style: Assuming you’d like to air dry. Once dry spray Oribe Dry Texture throughout your hair. This will enhance the wave, add a little grit so it won’t easily fall flat, and offer a hold so no hairspray needed! Boom! Easy.
Last but not least, our most dramatic makeover of them all. Our guest felt so amazing after this experience! As you can tell, she has a lot of thick coarse hair. If you’d like to air dry, we’d simply recommend styling with a flat iron and protection protein spray once dry. You could also use an oil if your hair is also very coarse and thick.
The best protein spray that bonds proteins into your hair by the aid of heat is Surface hair’s Protein Repair Tonic. If you’re a brunette, you could use the Bassu Hydrating Gold oil or for Blondes, we’d recommend the Bassu Hydrating oil. Both are better options for coarse hair. For fine to medium, stick with the Protein Repair tonic.
Finally, notice we didn’t showcase LONG hairstyle? We wanted the title to be the ‘best’ styles for the busy woman. And what do you think happens with the long hair of busy women? That’s right, it usually gets thrown up into a ponytail. And though this is technically a style choice, it’s not as fashion forward. Great for the gym or yard work, not so great for social events or work. Also notice that there’s a minimum effort to all styles. The price you pay if you’d prefer to wash and wear with no blow drying and no product is not having the body, movement, texture and shine that these resources offer.
