Ladies, no matter how organized of a bride you claim to be, you’ll quickly find out that on your wedding day, every minute matters! So, we’ve compiled a list of the 9 (and a half) necessities our brides should have in their bags for the big day.
- KEEP A WATER BOTTLE WITH YOU FOR HYDRATION
Staying hydrated is a must! It’s easy to get caught up during the big day, running around at your reception, tending to your guests and visiting with family and friends. You’re going to be spending lots of time and energy on conversation and you’re likely to get a little parched in the process—not to mention the tears! Because you might have trouble finding the time to take a break, we suggest keeping a mini 8oz water bottle on your person so that you can re-hydrate on the go.
- STAY MINTY FRESH WITH YOUR FAVORITE GUM OR BREATH MINTS
You’ll be in and out of conversation all day long, so keep it fresh by bringing your favorite gum or mints with you on the big day. The hope is that, in between all of the hugs and congratulations, you’ll find the time to sit down and refuel. Of course, you don’t want to go back and pick up a conversation with bad breath, but finding the time to sneak off for a swig of mouthwash? Well, that might be wishful thinking. So, the second bridal bag essential on our list is mints! You can pop a piece of gum or a pocket mint at any point during the day—keeping things fresh without disrupting the flow.
- PACK A SNACK FOR FUEL THROUGHOUT THE DAY
Of course, you want to sit down for a meal if you can, but we all know that brides are the busy bodies of the wedding. So, if you can’t find the time for all three courses, why not pack a snack to keep you fueled for the busy day ahead? Think protein and portability so that you can keep yourself satisfied for the day’s celebrations. Granola bars, string cheese, a sleeve of crackers, whatever it is, just make sure it’s got enough nutrients to keep you going all day long.
- A LONG-LASTING LIP COLOR DOESN’T REAPPLY ITSELF
While plenty of lipstick brands might promise long-lasting wear, let’s face it—your lip color won’t reapply itself. In between sips of water, nibbles of food, and lots of smooching, your lipstick is sure to fade. In order to maintain your wedding day look, we suggest you keep your lip color with you so that you can touch up as you go!
- FOR EXTRA MAINTENANCE, STASH A STRAW IN YOUR BAG
While keeping your lip color with you is a must, why not take a couple of preventative measures with a portable straw as your trusty sidekick! Although your lipstick is sure to suffer after all of the kissing and conversation, you can at least attempt to prolong the process by pulling out your portable straw. This way, you can take a quick sip of you water bottle without breaking out a mirror to reapply.
- KEEP YOUR SKIN SHINE-FREE WITH OIL-BLOTTING SHEETS
Just because you’re shining out on the dance floor doesn’t mean your skin needs to. After a long day of pictures, in between touch-ups and plenty of tears your face is sure to show a little shine. Instead of packing messy products or running off to the powder room for constant polishing, just bring blotting papers. These sheets are super portable and will absorb any access oil, helping alleviate that shimmer so that you’re always ready for a photo op.
- DON’T FORGET THE TISSUES
Even if you’re not a crier, the wedding day waterworks can really sneak up on you. It’s an emotional day, so tears are to be expected, but don’t let them ruin your look. Bring a portable tissue pack with you and you’ll be ready for all of the emotions the big day has in store.
- EYE DROPS ARE YOUR BEST FRIEND
Tissues might be able to stop your tears in their tracks, but nothing can prevent them from flowing in the first place. You’ll want to keep some eye-drops with you for the big day. Whether your eyes tend to get dry, red, or some combination of the two, a little Visine goes a long way!
- BE PREPARED FOR WHATEVER WEATHER YOUR WEDDING DAY HAS IN STORE BY PACKING AN UMBRELLA
The weather can be an unpredictable force, but don’t let it dictate the outcome of your wedding day. After all of the time and effort spent on your wedding day look, we’d hate to see your hair ruined due to a storm. Be prepared and pack an umbrella if you can!
9½. BE INSPIRED BRIDES KNOW TO BRING THEIR SHOWER CAPS
While bringing an umbrella sounds ideal, most brides prefer to have little baggage, and packing a full-sized umbrella might be unrealistic. So, we want to let our Be Inspired Salon brides in on a little secret—shower caps! Don’t let the rain ruin your wedding day look, stuff a shower cap in your bag and you’ll be ready for the worst. Nothing can get in the way of your big day.
